SYNOPSIS
C.S. Lewis’s classic fantasy novel was the first in the Chronicles Of Narnia series to be written and published.
Four children encounter a magical wardrobe which grants them access to the land of Narnia. Guided by Tumnus the faun, they encounter talking beavers, the treacherous White Witch and the majestic lion Aslan.
They learn of an ancient prophecy and summoning up all their courage, have to defeat the witch’s army in the final battle.
SOUND DESIGN
One of the only fantasy entries in The Read, this episode gave an opportunity for some unique sound design.
Narnia is initially chilly and hostile, which we supported through immersive wind, snow and ice sounds.
There is a huge battle in the final section, where we incorporated clashing weapons, howling creatures and crunching foley.
Simon Passmore delivered a wonderful score, by turns playful, adventurous and moving, which we foregrounded in the mix as much as possible.
