Persuasion

For BBC Four’s The Read, Monica Dolan narrates the much-loved Persuasion by Jane Austen.

Client: Rural Studios / BBC Arts

Sector: Narrative (63 Mins)

Services: Sound Design & Mix

SYNOPSIS

Jane Austen’s final novel, it marked a new maturity in her writing. Anne Elliot and Captain Frederick Wentworth were engaged to be married at a relatively young age, but Anne is persuaded to call it off by firends and family.

They meet again after being apart for eight years, affording them another chance to rekindle their relationship.

SOUND DESIGN

A period piece, this episode genearlly features quite delicate sound design. In the early stages we added cloth and footsteps foley for the character cutaways.

There are vehicle sounds such as the horse and carriage, and as the second half of the novel is set in and around Lyme there are lots of coastal sounds.
